Twin Cities Home Prices Rise
The latest S&P/Case-Shiller 20-city composite home price index report for November of 2014 is in. Home prices in the Twin Cities increased, but at a slower pace than what we have been seeing. The index tracks reports from 20 large metropolitan cities across the nation.
Nationwide home prices during November decreased by 0.1 percent over October. However, when compared to year-over-year home prices increased by 4.7 percent. Here in the Twin Cities metro region home prices slightly fell 0.7 percent from October to November. Yet when compared from this period of time in 2013 they rose by 1.5 percent.
"With the spring home buying season, and spring training, still a month or two away, the housing recovery is barely on first base” says David Blitzer, Managing Director and Chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices.
2015 is off to a good start in the housing market with new home sales increasing. A nationwide report showed that for December new homes sales reached their highest level in nearly six years.
