Your Twin Cities Area Events Guide: December 15th to December 17th
The Minneapolis area has long been known as an epicenter of great art. Culture abounds in the Twin Cities, from amazing restaurants, world-class museums, and events that are unforgettable. Whether you live in the suburbs of the Twin Cities, or call the center of it all your home, consider spending a weekend walking gallery and museum halls, unwinding with a dose of artistry as we head into the holiday season rush. With that in mind, we’ve outlined a few great exhibitions and shows on view to take the family, a date, or head out solo for a weekend of fun.
AMVETS Post #5: Photographs by Xavier Tavera

St. Paul, MN
This exhibition is free with admission (which ranges only between $6 and $12) at the Minnesota History Center. The story behind these photos begins in 2013, when Twin Cities artist Xavier Tavera began documenting local veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. This exhibition is on view until April 22nd, but with Veteran’s Day’s recent passage, this is the perfect exhibition to inspire reflection as Twin Cities area citizens head into the holiday season. Covenant: A Conspiracy of Strange Girls Annual Art Show

This weekend only, check out this free event at local brewing company, Modist. This group show is described as "wonderfully witchy” and supports marginalized groups in their art. Sales of the art benefit a worthy cause: Puerto Rico’s Hurricane Maria Community Recovery Fund. There will also be a drive for winter wear to donate to the area organization, Avenues for Homeless Youth.
