Your Eden Prairie Weekend Events Guide: August 11th, 12th, and 13th

Brace Helgeson

When you’re this close to the Twin Cities, it’s easy to make your way into town to enjoy some of the finest dining, entertainment, museums, and natural spectacles in the Midwest, but there’s just as much fun stuff to do here in Eden Prairie. Take your pick of this weekend’s upcoming attractions and to-do list items and enjoy these waning weeks of summertime before they’re gone too soon.

Friday, August 11th

Movies in the Park: Beauty and the Beast

What’s better than winding down the week than by taking in dinner and a movie? The folks at the Eden Prairie Community Center will be hosting Movies in the Park, beginning at 9PM. At the Staring Lake Amphitheatre, locals can enjoy this family-friendly evening under the stars, with pre-show entertainment provided by the Alpha Bits beginning at 7:30PM. Bring a lawn chair and some pocket money for the concession stand and unwind with a night breeze, good company, and one of this year’s biggest movie hits. Coldplay at US Bank Stadium

Venture into Minneapolis for an evening of music at US Bank Stadium, where long-famous British import band Coldplay takes the stage. Tickets for this event are surprisingly affordable, as upper-level seating comes in at around $30 a piece—a great option for an out of the ordinary date night in the Twin Cities. Popular singles you may recall include "Yellow,” "The Scientist,” "Fix You,” and the more recent "Something Just Like This You,” which has been dominating radios across Minnesota this summer. Future: Made Here

This free exhibition hosted by the Hennepin Theatre Trust takes place in Minneapolis and is the perfect opportunity to glimpse the Minnesota-made collection of art spanning over forty-two window displays and featuring the work of more than 100 artists and students. Installations, mirror works, and a mandala are just a few of the pieces on display, while a walking tour will be offered by the AC Hotel so that viewers can witness the very best of local art taking over empty lots, storefronts, bare walls, and more. Future: Made Here is a great Sunday afternoon stroll with plenty to see in the Twin Cities. To learn more about this event, please click here.
