Prepare Your Twin Cities Home For Fall

Brace Helgeson

The cooler weather of Fall is right around the corner. The cool air can cause wear and tear on your home. Make sure your Twin Cities home is ready to withstand and hold up to the cooler temperatures ahead by following these few tips.

  1. Gutter Maintenance- Inpsect the gutters on your home and remove any leaves or debris.

  2. Hoses-Drain outdoor faucets and remove water hoses to prevent them from freezing

  3. Furnance Maintenance- Do not wait until the temperature drops and you go to turn on your furnance before servicing it. Replace or clean your filter. Have a professional preform an annual system check-up.

  4. Check for air leaks- Inspect all doors and windows for air leaks. You can do this by simply runninng your hand along the doorframe or window while feeling for a draft. If you discover you have an air leak fix it by, caulking any holes, applying weather stripping, and installing storm doors or windows.

  5. Lighting- With fall approaching it means less hours of daylight. Outdoor lights are important when it comes to safety. Install Energy Saver products.
